Hales and Hindmarsh concentrate on undertaking recruitment projects for client companies by both advertising and headhunting. Our advertisements appear on a regular basis in The Daily Telegraph, other appropriate national papers and professional journals.
As a Consultancy we do not maintain a database of candidates seeking a new position and are not able to be of any assistance to individuals who write to us on a speculative basis.
Observations
- The increase in the number of individuals who have invested time, and often money, in preparing a CV shows up those who have not. Whilst you do not need to have a CV professionally prepared, a photocopy of the photocopied photocopy will not do you any good. Your CV is a marketing tool - don't miss the opportunity it gives you to present yourself well.
- There is a growing trend amongst CV writers to produce Consultant unfriendly CVs. It is no good only giving us a company name without any description of what they do, how big they are and so on. We are not going to spend hours on the internet trying to discover whether your current/last employer has any relevance or not.
- Covering letters are another area where there is much confusion. Two, three and four page covering letters are a waste of time and probably will not get read. Your letter should confirm your interest, highlight where in the CV we will find relevant information and maybe add a single line or two covering the information not in the CV. But if it is not in the CV- why isn't it!
